Next I'll be re-reading a couple more of Angela Thirkells books unless I go and collect another of the British Library Crime Classics which is now on the reservation shelf for me or even better, "Death of Kings" the 5th and new Rennie Airth book in his Inspector John Madden historical crime series. There is a three year gap since he wrote the 4th so I've forgotten all about the character but I know they are well written. The nearest town is Egremont (2 miles) where there are shops and garage facilities. The historical west coast town of Whitehaven is 15 minutes away. It has a lovely marina and beautiful Georgian old town. book we get to know some of the people who live in the village and the members of the battery from the Major and The beamed lounge area has wood burner, comfortable seating for six people ,TV and DVD player and views to the garden from the patio doors, The dining area has table and chairs for six people. There are lots of books at the cottage that you are welcome to read during your stay. I'd have known about the delays involved due to the Equity Release company's loan on the bungalow, I still would have gone ahead as the bungalow will suit me fine and other things that are for sale are either too big/small/expensive.

Stepping into this adorable cottage you will find the gorgeous lounge which features comfortable seating, exposed beams, and a cosy wood burner. The country-style kitchen/diner has a range of equipment, a solid oak dining table and a seating area overlooking the surrounding farmland. The ground floor also has a pretty, light-filled garden room, as well as a large wet room. The first floor offers three tastefully decorated bedrooms: a double, a twin and a single, as well as a charming family bathroom. Heading outside via the French doors, you will find a sheltered and enclosed garden with outdoor furniture, providing a lovely spot to relax in at the end of a great day. In the adjoining barn there's a pool table for all the family to enjoy. Your little 'wild' stretch which although to some would seem to messy, will be home and food for hundreds of little undisturbed creatures.I read "From a Distance", her most recent book, when it was published in 2014 and have read a few of the other 8 since then. "Come and Tell Me Some Lies" was her first book, published in 1994. Although it's fiction it has hints of her own life. house. At the end of the book the family move abroad for Charlie's work and never return to live in the cottage. A staircase leads off from the dining area to the first-floor bedrooms. The master double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the further double bedroom has double doors opening out onto the Juliet balcony looking out to the garden. There is a further twin room and family bathroom with bath and electric shower over.

The Expert by Bernard Knight is another of the 7 old books of his that have been re-published, some were OK but others dreadful. When I wrote this in my Book of Books Read I discovered that I'd read one of hers before, a long time ago.... "The Honours Board". I might have a look at some of this authors other titles. This contemporary country cottage sits among beautiful leafy surroundings, making it an ideal place to unwind after days out exploring Cumbria’s coast and countryside. While I can admire the neatness of the grass verge, that is a week in week out job that benefit no-one or nature. The garden spilling out is lovely and if she lets the more native and natural plants take over it will revert to being a wildflower patch as she loses the urge or the ability to maintain it in the future, so no harm done and beauty and activity enjoyed. The cottage has been recently renovated to provide light and airy contemporary and comfortable living. The side entrance door leads into the large open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. The large double patio doors leading out onto the garden and sitting out area. A magnificent stone Welsh longhouse that sleeps up tofive people, this cottage offers total peace and tranquillity with scenic rural surroundings. I also had another of her books "A Perfect Life" on loan but couldn't be bothered with it as the story was obvious from the beginning and very similar to "Hens Dancing" and "Summertime" two of her other books. This renovated barn conversion sleeps six people. The cottage has been sympathetically modernised to include contemporary features such as chrome radiators, large patio doors and a wood burner. It provides a lovely light and airy property with open plan beamed living space and a contemporary kitchen area. There are large french windows out to a patio seating area and a south-east facing garden - ideal for breakfast on a sunny summer's morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
